Swing is the type of music that was invented in the 1920s and was very popular to the 1950s
Within the term 'swing' there are a few basic dances.. within these basic dances there exists yet another set of moves.
Types of swing dancing..

East coast (also called Jitterbug, 6-count-Lindy)

Single-Step
Double-Step
Triple-Step

West Coast

Lindy Hop (also called 8-count Lindy)

Savoy Style
Hollywood Style

The Big Apple

Balboa

Keep in mind that some of these dances have a variety of names (and variety of styles) but have the exact same steps. There isn't a right way to do a specific dance or the correct name to call a dance, just preferences. My preferred dance steps and names are East-coast Swing & Lindy Hop (because I practice them most often). My newest love is the Balboa.. I first saw it danced down in Florida.. and I'm constantly amazed by that dance!!
