Friendships & Love
Love is the most important thing in life. Without love there is nothing.
Of course there are different types of love.
There is a book I once read that listed 4 types. Brotherly love- Love for people in general. Family love, Intimate love-between your close friends and boyfriend/girlfriend, and ultimate love- God's love for you and the type of love a Husband and wife have.
I know love can hurt.. so here is...
After Break-up Advice
After a break-up; see the movie Swingers. An excellent movie that deals with a fellow who goes through being dumped. I have acted just like the main character so I really identified with him. The film does a great job of giving different veiwpoints and providing different types of advice.
One of my favorite scenes is where one of his friends says:
"... the problem with you is that you don't see what you have..."
One tends to forget that there is other things more important in life. Health, a roof over one's head, other people that care. I went through all this after getting dumped. But it is true what they say- there are other fish in the sea. If the fish you had got away, then a better one will come along. If the fish you had didn't want you then the fish didn't deserve you. Hmm, I suppose I've used enough of that analogy.
I think the first thing you need to do is change your focus.. focus on making yourself a better person! Meet new, interesting people! You can always have more quality friends.
I've made mistakes. I can't change the past but I can learn from my mistakes.
I have been through all of the levels of emotions.. but I know that I can't change people and I can't make people love me. I can love people for who they are and love myself for who I am.
This stuff has happened at least twice. And I'm always learning something new... I've always asked people for their advice on what to do after a break-up. It doesn't mean I had to take it but it helps to lay out more options I may have overlooked. If your friends get annoyed with you being depressed and asking their advice; then get out of the funk you are in.
Get out of a funk Advice
A fellow I met was named Ras Don. He once said that there was a group of people that used service as a tactic to get out of a funk. They'd put on a service hat and do service for someone. You can do this too. If you are in a funk do service for your family, friends, another group, homeless, church, school, etc.. And you know something? It really does work!
Friends.
There are a great deal of people that mean a lot to me in my life. I am a very lucky guy to have the friends I do. I love them all!
Below is an e-mail a friend of mine from Mexico sent me. I hope you like it.
A "Love" Story
Once upon a time there was an island where all the feelings lived happiness, sadness, knowledge, and all the others, including love. One day it was announced
to all of the feelings that the island was going to sink to the bottom of the ocean. So all the feelings prepared their boats to leave. Love was the only one
that stayed. She wanted to preserve the island paradise until the last possible moment. When the island was almost totally under, love decided it was
time to leave. She began looking for someone to ask for help. Just then Richness was passing by in a grandboat.
Love asked, "Richness, Can I come with you on your boat?" Richness answered, " I'm sorry, but there is a lot of silver and gold on my boat and there would be
no room for you anywhere."
Then Love decided to ask Vanity for help who was passing in a beautiful vessel.
Love cried out, "Vanity, help me please." "I can't help you", Vanity said, " You are all wet and will damage my beautiful boat."
Next, Love saw Sadness passing by. Love said, " Sadness, please let me go
with you." Sadness answered, "Love, I'm sorry, but, I just need to be alone now."
Then, Love saw Happiness. Love cried out, "Happiness, please take me with you."
But Happiness was so overjoyed that he didn't hear Love calling to him.
Love began to cry.
Then, she heard a voice say, "Come Love, I will take you with me." It was an elder. Love felt so blessed and overjoyed that she forgot to ask the elder his
name. When they arrived on land the elder went on hisway. Love realized how much she owed the elder. Love then found Knowledge and asked, "Who was it that helped me?"
"It was Time", Knowledge answered. "But why did Time help me when no one else would?", Love asked.
Knowledge smiled and with deep wisdom and sincerity, answered, "Because only Time is capable of understanding how great Love is."
The Facts of Life:
1. At least 5 people in this world, love you so much they would die for you.
2. At least 15 people in this world love you, in some way.
3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you, is because they want to be just like you.
4. A smile from you, can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.
5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.
6. You mean the world to someone.
7. Without you, someone may not be living.
8. You are special and unique, in your own way.
9. Someone that you don't know even exists, loves you.
10. When you make the biggest mistake ever, somethinggood comes from it.
11. When you think the world has turned it's back on you, take a look, you most likely turned your back on the world.
12. When you think you have no chance at getting what you want, you probably won't get it, but if you believe in yourself, you probably sooner or later will get it.
13. Always remember complements you received, forget about the rude remarks.
14. Always tell someone how you feel about them, you will feel much better when they know.
I got this one from Berenice in Australia- It has some good advice
Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they will love you back. Don't expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart; but if it does not, be content it grew in yours. (I really like this one)
Maybe God wanted us to meet the wrong people before meeting the right one so that when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift.
Maybe when the door of happiness closes, another opens, but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one which has been opened for us.
Maybe the best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.
Maybe it is true that we don't know what we have got until we lose it, but it is also true that we don't know what we have been missing until it arrives.
It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to love someone, but it takes a lifetime to forget someone.
Don't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that makes your heart smile.
There are moments in life when you miss someone so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real.
Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, enough hope to make you happy.
Always put yourself in others' shoes. If you feel that it hurts you, it probably hurts the other person, too.
The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.
Happiness lies for those who cry, those who hurt, those who have searched, and those who have tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of people who have touched their lives.
Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss and ends with a tear. The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past, you can't go on well in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.
When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die, you are the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.
Friends
People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.
When you figure out which it is, you know exactly what to do.
When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is
usually to meet a need you have expressed outwardly
or inwardly. They have come to assist you through a
difficulty, to provide you with guidance and
support, to aid you physically, emotionally, or spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend, and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrong doing on your part or at an
inconvenient time, this person will say or do
something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up or out and force you to take
a stand. What we must realize is that our need has
been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done. The
prayer you sent up has been answered and it is now
time to move on.
When people come into your life for a SEASON, it is
because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn.
They may bring you an experience of peace or make
you laugh. They may teach you something you have never
done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount
of joy. Believe it! It is real! But, only for a
season.
LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons;
those things you must build upon in order to have a
solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept
the lesson, love the person/people (anyway); and put
what you have learned to use in all other relationships
and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind
but friendship is clairvoyant.
Thank you for being a part of my life...Smile and
stop here if you're not into this final part: This is
to show people you love them and to see how many
people love you!! Don't feel embarrassed cause only you
will get the results. Send it to every friend that you
have online, including the person who sent it to
you.
PRAYER:
May today there be peace within you.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you
meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that
are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received, and
pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content knowing that you are a child of
God. Let His presence settle into your bones, and
allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, and to
bask in the sun. It is there for each and every one
of you.

No man/woman is worth your tears and the only one who is, will never make you cry. If you love someone, put their name in a circle, instead of a heart, because hearts can break, but circles go on forever.
Everyone hears what you say. Friends listen to what you say. Best friends listen to what you don't say.
If all my friends were to jump off a bridge, I wouldn't jump with them, I'd be at the bottom to catch them.
"Don't frown, because you never know who's falling in love with your smile!"
"If you judge people, you have no time to love them"
"Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle." Plato It takes a minute to have a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to love someone- but it takes a lifetime to forget someone."
"Enthusiasm is contagious. You could start an epidemic!"
Here are some more random things:
1. I love you not because of who you are, but because of who I am when I am with you.
2. No man or woman is worth your tears, and the one who is, won't make you cry.
3. Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.
4. A true friend is someone who reaches for your hand and touches your heart.
5. The worst way to miss someone is to be sitting right beside them knowing you can't have them.
6. Never frown, even when you are sad, because you never know who is falling in love with your smile.
7. To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.
8. Don't waste your time on a man/woman, who isn't willing to waste their time on you.
9. Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one, so that when we finally meet the person, we will know how to be grateful.
10. Don't cry because it is over, smile because it happened.
11. There's always going to be people that hurt you so what you have to do is keep on trusting and just be more careful about who you trust next time around.
12. Make yourself a better person and know who you are before you try and know someone else and expect them to know you.
13. Don't try so hard, the best things come when you least expect them to.
14. Whatever happens, happens for a reason.
